Gifting - Give in a Way That Lasts

Your gift to Unkitawa is more than a donation—it’s an investment in Native-led cultural and community programs that uplift and empower. By giving through stock, cryptocurrency, a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) grant, or an endowment, you can make a meaningful impact in ways that may also benefit you.

Benefits for You

  • Tax Advantages: Many non-cash gifts—such as appreciated stock, crypto, or DAF grants—have potential tax savings, allowing you to make a bigger impact.
  • Maximize Your Contribution: Gifting appreciated assets instead of selling them first may help you avoid capital gains taxes and direct more of your gift to Unikitawa.
  • Flexibility and Legacy: Endowments and DAF grants allow you to support Unkitawa now and in the future, aligning your giving with your values and long-term goals.

Benefits for Unkitawa

  • Sustainable Funding: These types of gifts strengthen Unkitawa’s ability to plan ahead, sustain year-round programs, and respond to emerging community needs.
  • Capacity to Grow: Larger or recurring non-cash gifts help us expand our reach and deepen our cultural preservation efforts.
  • Community Resilience: Your gift supports Indigenous voices and leadership, ensuring that our traditions thrive for generations.

Your generosity—no matter the form—helps us continue the work of honoring our ancestors, protecting our earth, and nurturing future leaders.

Donate In-Kind

We receive grant funding to cover many of our employees’ salaries, overhead, and some other expenses. Grant funds rarely pay for event materials, food, or sufficient staff to host and facilitate our events.
We welcome your donations to support our events, gatherings, and activities.

  • Share your knowledge – lead or teach ceremonies, foraging, food preparation, and cooking, songs and singing, prayers, drumming, making cultural crafts, and other ancestral knowledge.
  • Donate materials for projects and events. Popular projects include making drums, belts, necklaces, ribbon shirts, ribbon skirts, and paddles. Events include Elder’s Luncheons, Community Nights, Bingo Nights, Powwows, and Folklife.
  • Donate food for meal preparation classes, event meals, and food boxes.
  • Donate your time to plan, organize, set up, assist, and tear down/clean up events and programs.
